Disney World is full of secrets! Today I will be discussing a few little known facts and details about the Magic Kingdom.

  1. Beneath the Magic Kingdom are network of passages that are called Utilidors. These passageways are used so cast members can move around the park unseen, transporting goods and accessing different parts of the park without disrupting the magic that guests feel.

  2. Walt Disney World uses a lot of forced perspective. Main Street, U.S.A is one of the lands that uses this perspective. The upper floors are smaller than the lower floors, leading to the buildings looking bigger than they actually are.

  3. There is a secret suite in Cinderella Castle. It was not completed during Walt Disney's life, but now special guests and contest winners can sleep there.

  4. In order to keep Liberty Square historically accurate, there are no bathrooms in the entire land. This includes Liberty Tree Tavern, whose bathrooms are technically in another land.

  5. Magic Kingdom uses something called a "smellitizer". It makes certain areas smell certain ways in order to enhance the guests experiences. This includes Main Street, U.S.A smelling like baked cookie and Pirates of the Caribbean smelling musty.

  6. The trash cans in Magic Kingdom are strategically placed throughout of the park. After extensive research they placed trash cans every 30 steps.

  7. You won't find any gum sold in Magic Kingdom in hopes of keeping the park clean. You can still bring in your own gum.

  8. Keep an eye out during the nighttime firework show. At some point during the show Tinkerbell will fly from Cinderella Castle to Tomorrowland.

  9. There is a hidden wedding ring in the Haunted Mansion queue. People says its a ghosts wedding ring, but originally it was repurposed piece of metal.

  10. There is only 1 real American Flag on Main Street, U.S.A. The rest of the flags are missing stars or stripes so they can stay up all day and night. The real flag is raised and lowered everyday. They even have a special flag retreat.

  11. There is a creepy doll in the window of Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. It has an eerie reputation but no official backstory. Some people say that they see it in different positions throughout the day.

  12. The Liberty Tree in Liberty Square is meant to represent freedom and independence. It is adorned with 13 lanterns that represent the 13 colonies. It is a southern oak tree that was found on Disney property before Magic Kingdom was created. It was 38 tons when it was moved to Liberty Square. It is a symbol of colonial resistance.

There are plenty of other interesting and little known facts about Magic Kingdom, but I hope you found these facts fun.
